Her face turned down
to watch the heavy sky
Or blow it away
With one lonely sigh
Her eyelids are shut
In a way that says she knows
When the sun is only energy
And the flowers stop to grow
Here spaceships glint like hunger
And buildings soar through space
To wear away the silence
And shatter past the grace
There is a well known warmth
That turns the sky to light
To make our feet like wings
And take us into night
But oxygen is poison
And hands are not so strong
And beauty will come to kill
If you let it breathe too long
I wish I could show you
Where the citizens stay
She watches over them
But still they tend to stray
To get into our hearts
And darken our minds
And fill us with cliches
And turn our eyes to blind
You'll want to know the secret
Of this place before the end
It could be more than magic
But less to comprehend

the rain here
somehow touches shoulders
never hidden faces
but always getting colder
so inside must be better
to watch through darkened screens
the rusting of the metal
the walking of machines
my pencil stains my hands
with something just like lead
keep looking out the window
with something just like dread
they've come to you in numbers
to give you just one choice
to sit in empty silence
or join their just one voice
now to see it all
what's more, to hear it said
there's cold light behind you
and dark warmth ahead
choose blindness and comfort
or sight with searing pain
here they are, they come
the robots rise again.
boxes of quarters
are better decorations in your room
than buying the stars
and wanting the moon
a hundred thousand wishes
to whisper in your head
to sing yourself to sleep
or lie awake in bed
reaching out to everything
but nothing there to hold
nothing there to savor
and so far from gold
rings on your fingers
flowers in your hair
toes painted silver
...no cares
